According to a student project LCA study on tropical fruits at the university of Freiburg1, avocados produced in Mexico and consumed in Germany produce 1.38 kg CO2e per kg of avocados. ~50% (0.7 kg CO2e) could be attributed to production, ~40% (0.5 kg CO2e) to transport, and ~10% (0.15 kg CO2e) to packaging. The transport included 1200 km transport by refrigerated lorry (~60% of the transport CO2e emissions) and 9600 km transport by a temperature controlled freight ship (~40%).
